CPD Requirements
At the time of writing NSW licensed builders are required to earn 12 CPD points each year. CPD activities can earn either 1 or 2 points per hour.
To earn 1 point per hour, the learning must have an identifiable learning outcome and be interactive. It can be delivered as a course, workshop or conference and delivered either face to face or online. Training providers include industry associations, material suppliers and private training companies like Boss Builder CPD.
To earn 2 points per hour, the learning must have an assessable learning outcome and be delivered by an Australian university or a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). RTOs include Tafe NSW, MBA, HIA along with various private RTOs. The Australian government provides a vocational education and training database to search for RTOs. Refer to the website below.

Category 1 (1 point per hour) self-paced learning like ours offers flexibility on when and where you complete your CPD activity. Boss Builder CPD is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). RTOs that offer 2 CPD points per hour may require face-to-face attendance or formal assessments.
Many builders choose to combine a mix of both flexible online learning with occasional in-person or accredited training to support well-rounded professional development.
Any CPD activity completed by builders must be relevant to one of 8 CPD topic areas stipulated by Building Commission NSW. There are various subjects under each topic. Boss Builder CPD courses are designed to assist builders in meeting these requirements.
It is important to understand that private training companies like Boss Builder CPD provide educational course materials to support CPD activity however participants are responsible for ensuring they have completed the requisite learning to achieve the points. Boss Builder CPD provides a Record of Completion and builders should also keep a CPD diary recording any completed hours as evidence. You can download our free diary template below.
